There's an old Brian Eno quote that is inevitably referenced when talking about the Velvet Underground - something along the lines of "They only sold 30,000 copies of their first album, but everyone who bought the album started a band". It's slightly inaccurate (they sold a lot more copies), but the message is clear: few bands have had such an outsized, potent, and wide reaching effect on the musicians that followed in their footsteps. Their stubborn desire to continually approach songwriting from the left field, and continuous sonic reinvention reverberated for decades, influencing punk, post-punk, art rock, ambient music, even notably influencing real political revolution in Czechoslovakia. Two hours of The Velvets' best, selected and mixed by Claire Rousay.

Kleer

Kleer

Kleer has been played on NTS shows including Alexander Nut, with Tonight first played on 30 July 2015.

Matt aka Kleer started DJing way back in 1994 after getting hooked on the vibe of the rave scene. After several years of rinsing out the sounds of happy hardcore and oldskool rave anthems and a chance meeting with Steve BCee, Kleer was introduced to the emerging liquid drum 'n' bass scene. It wasn't long at all until he was hooked on the sounds of labels such as Hospital Records, Creative Source and Soul:R. Kleers technical ability as a DJ and his ear for tune selection soon caught the attention of BCee who took him on to scout out new talent for BCee's Spearhead Records.

Steve BCee is also quick to point out that Kleer is the most qualified member of the Spearhead Records team, as he also has a degree in music. Kleer's debut liquid track 'True Lies' was also picked up by Spearhead (before anyone got a chance to even hear it) in 2006. With an ever increasing DJ schedule, a whole heap of finished tracks ready to be released and some exciting collaborations with artists such as Lomax & Laroque, as we say in the world of drum 'n' bass, it's a good look.
