HASSAN CHOP, born Hassan West is one of the most talented, and prolific M.Cs to burst unto the Hip-Hop scene. His versatile lyrical skills and originality, his profound content and delivery, and his keen sense of culture and awareness can be described as a refreshing twist of witty conscience Hip-Hop, laced with a melodic Reggae/Dancehall musical style. HASSAN CHOP, born in New York City to Jamaican parents, spent most of his childhood growing up in-between Jamaica, Queens and The Virgin Islands. He began rhyming at about the age of 9 years old in school talent shows and local functions. He hit the recording studio at the age of 14, and was able to get two songs in radio rotation by the time he was 16 years old. He rhymed along side some of the hottest local artists, and D.Js and even opened up for a few major acts but was never able to land a solid record deal at the time. Thats when he got involved with a small production company in Brooklyn, recorded his first complete demo, and began searching for a record label that believed in his vision. Hassan from there moved to Atlanta and made himself known to the mainstream and Atlanta music scene and as Atlanta underground Hip-Hop circuit began to grow, he stopped recording and decided to focus more on business and music production by opening up a full time Barber Shop, throwing parties, and promoting his own showcases of local acts, still searching to find and create the right tracks with the sound he needed to break into the music industry as a rapper. Then, by what seemed to almost be sheer fate, he hooked up with the well known legendary underground rapper M.F. DOOM formally Zev love X of the controversial Rap group KMD. Together they recorded his debut single" I Wonder", a thought provoking piece where HASSAN CHOP drops gems about teenage life and regrets over a melodic sampled ensemble of strings produced by MF DOOM which ultimatley landed a feature spot on DOOM's album entitled KING GEEDORA: Take me to your leader on Big Dada Records. Since the records release in July 2003, HASSAN has been touring, steadily building his fan base doing shows and producing and recording new songs for his highly anticipated debut album. The Pen and the Sword. HASSAN CHOP's lyrical style, musical talents and versatility is simply incredible and his path to success in the Hip-Hop world is undeniable. Be on look out for this up-and-coming Artist destined for greatness, and be prepared for HASSAN CHOP to truly take you the Next Level of Hip-Hop.
