Douglas Lilburn, ONZ (1915-2001), was a New Zealand composer, widely regarded as the father of New Zealand composition. Lilburn studied under Ralph Vaughan Williams and wrote three symphonies and several tone poems. He also established the Electronic Music Studio at Victoria University of Wellington, the first such studio in New Zealand.
