Dam Native has been played on NTS shows including Down at the End of the Garden w/ Flying Nun Records, with Behold My Kool Style (Original Album Mix) first played on 5 March 2021.

Formed in 1992 and unarguably New Zealands premier hip-hop group, Dam Native is a two man hip-hop group twisting lyrics that are sometimes Maori, sometimes political. Dam Native was previously known as Native Base. They released their debut album entitled 'Kaupapa Driven Rhymes Uplifted' (K.D.R.U).

In 1996 Dam Native won 'Best Video' at the Flying Fish awards for their single 'Behold My Kool Style'.

In 2010 they finally released their follow-up album, Aotearoa… Nobody Does It Better.
