The Triangle

The Triangle

The Triangle has been played on NTS shows including The Spaces In Between w/ John Gómez, with Dead Traveler first played on 10 March 2021.

The Triangle are an indie rock band hailing from Bandung, Indonesia. Originally conceived of as a three piece acoustic project consisting of Riko Prayitno (Mocca), Fikri Hadiansyah (Vincent Vega), and Cil Satriawan, the band soon realized the scope of their ambition required wider intrumentation and expanded the band to include drums, trumpet, trombone, and (sometimes) piano. Though based firmly in guitar-based pop/rock music, their songs tend to meander into stranger territories, owing to the range of influences the band draws upon. Elements of 80s twee and jangle pop, 90s alternative, indie rock, and post-rock are quite apparent in their music, but masked in a sound and mood wholly their own.

Brandishing their combination of overdriven and reverb-laden guitar tones, horns, plodding drum patterns, and female backing vocals, the band finds itself occupying a rather unique niche in their local scene. Combined with the varying but almost always depressing lyrical content, the band has quickly garnered attention among the thoroughly depressed young people of Bandung.

The Triangle formed in 2010 through a chance encounter between Riko Prayitno, guitarist of Mocca, and Cil Satriawan during an open mic session at Riko's cafe. After inviting Fikri Hadiansyah of Vincent Vega to join as guitarist, the group convened to write songs. The end product being beyond the group's initial expectations, they decided to get serious and release material. They are currently in the process of writing and recording material for their first LP, to be released sometime next year. Their first single "How Could You" has been released via their website and can be downloaded for free at www.thetriangleband.com
