Tigrala are a trio of talented musicians. Norberto Lobo, considered an acoustic guitar virtuoso, with two of his own solo albuns; Guilherme Canhão, guitar player with a solo career as well as other projects like the noise rock band Lobster and Ian Carlos Mendonza, drummer and percussionist that uses a wide range of objects to produce very diverse rhythms and sounds. Together since early 2009, they released their first album in 2010. It is a melting pot of alchemy with influences of rock, jazz, ethnic music and folk, guided by an explorative spirit that binds three different by complemantary minds and visions of what music is.
It is a hard task to define Tigrala's sound. In their first album, many songs have a shamanistic and theluric tone, that is eloquently expressed in the title of track nº 6, “aunque no sepa cantar mi corazón es lleno como una ola que se levanta temprano conectada a los misterios más primordiales” - which can be translated into “even if I cannot sing my heart is filled like a wave that arises early connected to the most primordial mysteries”. Their sound aesthetics seems to owe a great deal to the way the three musicians know each other's skills and styles, to their musical and performative intimacy and you feel like saying that it came to life in a jam session middle way between the Andes and a recording studio. Voice, when there is voice, is just another element that summons what is most primeval in animality and earth. There are no lyrics and you can't find the most obvious chorus structured song formats. You can find primitive, inspired musicality woven by the talent and creativity of musicians that are relatively young but defenitly experienced and have no fear of risking.
