COBRAH

COBRAH

COBRAH has been played on NTS shows including Supporter Radio: Heartbreak, with DEBUT first played on 18 April 2020.

COBRAH is an eccentric artist from Sweden. The iconic queer performer makes electronic bangers heavily influenced both by her experience in the kink, vogue, and punk communities. As such, her music is inherently political and personal.

As of October 2024, COBRAH has released 3 EP’s, 1 Remix EP and multiple standalone singles. Her first EP, ICON was released digitally on all streaming platforms in March of 2019 through her own label, GAGBALL. The EP features the singles IDFKA, WET, and U KNOW ME.

Her next project, COBRAH, was released on the 12th May 2021, once again through her own label, GAGBALL. This EP’s release cycle kicked off in March of 2020, following the release of its first single, DEBUT. The second single, DIP N DRIP was released almost a year later, in February of 2021. The EP’s final single, GOOD PUSS was released in March 2021, and was accompanied by a music video. This track was later remixed by the iconic rapper CupcakKe in 2022

In June of 2023, Cobrah released her new single SUCK, alongside its own music video, for her new EP SUCCUBUS, officially kickstarting her new era. It’s second single, MANIC was released in August of 2023, and was once again accompanied by a music video. Cobrah said in a statement: ”i loved making this record but if anything, it really brought out the manic in me”. On the 7th September 2023, Cobrah announced the EP via her social media, and the final single, FEMININE ENERGY was subsequently released days later, once again, accompanied by its own music video. SUCCUBUS was released to all streaming services on the 13th October 2023. A day later, pre orders for SUCCUBUS vinyl and CD’s went live. As well as this, Cobrah embarked on a tour to promote the EP.

On the 26th July 2024, SUCCUBUS XXXTENDED was released. This is a remix EP, and features 5 remixes of songs, all from Cobrah’s 2023 release SUCCUBUS

Cobrah's single, "IDFKA," an acronym for "I don't fucking know anymore," culls those initial inspirations and channels them into a song that feels like a rallying cry against increasingly troubled times. On one hand, the song's lyrics and Cobrah's intentionally deadpan delivery address defeat, but the sinuous production itself is motivating -- from the dancefloor (or dungeon, if that's what you're into) to the streets. Considering the latter point, "IDFKA" transforms into a call from apathy to action. Its video, a trippy 3D animation co-directed with artist Erik Hellmouth sees Cobrah as a sexual cyborg of sorts making her way through what looks like a bloodstream.
