Good luck explaining the contemporary pop, hip hop and R&B landscape without Odd Future. Many of its current trends – colourful, jazz inflected production, a focus on collectives and collaborative scenes, free genre experimentation and cross pollination, were all channelled through a crew of LA school kids, skateboarders and their friends at the dawn of the 2010s. Tyler, The Creator, Frank Ocean, Earl Sweatshirt, The Internet, and numerous acts and artists who have orbited the now defunct label of Odd Future represent a dominance of modern US popular music that is tough to truly calculate. We sift through their influence and pick out some of their most important music.

Danton Eeprom

Danton Eeprom

Danton Eeprom has been played on NTS shows including 88 Transition w/ Tasker, with Grindhouse (Dubfire Planet Terror Mix) first played on 3 November 2013.

Real Name: Julien Brambilla

Danton is part of a new generation of French producers who can perfectly play in the major league. Like Vitalic or Carretta, Danton Eeprom fellow countryman, they share a lot in common. First, an acute sense of performance with which Danton has sublimated his repertoire and has made a name for himself in the most highly rated clubs from Berlin (Maria, Rio, 103) to Paris (Pulp, Batofar, Limelight) to Marseille. With the support of those performances that have marked the bodies and mind, from Ellen Allien to Chloé, Danton has released his electro tracks on Berliner label Electrobot, an exciting blend of electro, trance and new wave on Virgo (Prohibition Ep) and he's working on a forthcoming old school electro 12" (Disko Trash) on Belgian Lektroluv. Ewan Pearson has playlisted a track from Prohibition EP on his latest mixed compilation.

Danton's work hinges on everything currently considered creative in electro : harmonies worthy of a mind-blowing track by Mathew Jonson, a solid kick, Kompakt mental dimension, Dopplereffekt old school electro technique and on several tracks the good old days synth pop/new wave elegance.
