Puritan

Puritan

Puritan has been played on NTS in shows including Night Shift w/ Diamondstein, featured first on 2 June 2021. Songs played include Over Sanctuary and Over Sanctuary.

There are at least four bands named Puritan: 1) Hardcore band from U.S. 2) Post Rock band from U.S. 3) Progressive rock band from U.K. 4) Doom metal band from Finland (The Puritan) 5) A musical from U.S.

1) Puritan was a sludge/hardcore band from State College, PA. They featured future members of hassan i sabbah, otesanek, serpent throne and jail. They released a Demo Cassette (1996), a split 7" with December (1996), a split 12" with Reversal of Man (1996), and a split 7" with Officer down in 1997. They also had a song on the "From Stars Come Hearts" compilation 7" on Witching Hour (1997).

2) Puritan was an instrumental post rock ensemble formed in 1998 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Members Eric Kapke (guitar), Jay Kroehler (bass), Mac McNally (drums) and guests were joined by visual artists Scott Christensen and Mike Lind to form an arts collective that enjoyed an exclusive yearlong residency at European Grind on the University of Minnesota Twin Cities campus throughout 1999-2000. They performed regularly, and released one album, Inside (1999), and a collection of live sessions, Put Out The Light (2000) .

3) PURITAN were formed in February 2002 around the North Yorkshire area. They are a fundamentally a britrock band with a progressive edge. The name Puritan is basically an ironic piss-take from a religious movement called 'the Puritans' who tried to ban music. They try to be experimental in their music but without becoming self obbsessed. Their music is a mixture of their individual influences all put together to create their own sound. These range from Pink Floyd to Black Sabbath. Puritan have just completed working with and recording at London's 'Animal Farm productions' at Atomic Studios located near Tower Bridge in London.

4) The Puritan are a finnish group formed in 2005, consisting of Sami Hynninen (Albert Witchfinder) from Reverend Bizarre and members from Sinisthra, who put up a new project that plays Doom Metal. Often labeled without "The" and thus their album "Lithium Gates" is listed in here as well. See their record labels site for more info http://www.spinefarm.fi/showband.php?id=186

5) Puritan is a musical project of David Hamma, a musician from Portland, Oregon
