Glåsbird is an anonymous project by an established artist, built specifically to branch into the world of composing music for film and creating far-flung fictitious journeys. working alongside British record label Whitelabrecs, Glåsbird is developing a series of albums, each themed around different geographic locations.
The Glåsbird project launched in 2018 when an established artist decided to create an anonymous project, creating modern compositions with geographical themes. The aim was to explore the globe through albums inspired by various locations as a sonic expedition to far-away lands. The exploration launched in the Arctic ocean with 'Drift Stations', a digital-only EP on Whitelabrecs.
In early 2019, the partnership with UK-based record label Whitelabrecs continued with the debut album 'Grønland', which is a soundtrack to Greenland. This received much critical acclaim and was announced as one of the 'best new Ambient music' releases on Bandcamp for February. The artist followed with a second album, 'Svalbarð', which focuses on the remote polar island of Svalbard, lying at a cool 78 degrees north. This also received quite a bit of press attention and Bandcamp again endorsed the project as ‘genre defining’ on their Ambient page under their 'essential collection'.
In 2020, Glåsbird further developed their sound as they travelled to two new locations. First up, sketches were created that were inspired by the Norwegian Fjords, in the 'Norskfjǫrðr' album before the most dramatic record yet was released in the form of Novaya Zemlya.
As intended, Glåsbird has begun to branch into the field of music for film and composing. The first title was providing tracks for the documentary 'Welcome to Nain' by The Loners and more recently, Italian film Casa Occupata, directed by Federico Mattioni which is due for release in 2021.
