With his regular Rinse breakfast show and a string of highly applauded records, Leon Smart aka Scratcha DVA has been making a name for himself on the UK Funky circuit and beyond. Formerly involved with the grime crew Aftershock (alongside Terror Danjah and a few others), Scratcha has turned his focus on his solo productions in recent years, taking Funky into deeper and rather more abstract territories. A purveyor of superbly crafted releases on Kode9′s Hyperdub label as well his very own DVA imprint, he has also worked with the likes of Cooly G, Roska and the Night Slugs posse. With bass-heavy riddims navigating between his inimitable organic swing, melodic dubstep fusions, playful grooves, and technoid sounds, Scratcha’s definitely one of the most forward thinking minds in the bass game these days.
