Let NTS brighten up your lunchtime hours.
Welcome to the junglez. In the planet’s biggest pop, everyone is trying to get theirs. Red in tooth in claw, everyday shakirs; tigers, snakes, leopards and bears wrestle it up. Pity them - or those caught between at your peril. In the land of spiritual dualities everyone is something elses. Jimmy Corbett knows that. Colonialism sedates, mounts them on the wall but indeed, worships them too. Recordings, readings, reverberations; hypnotically sway sway at the food chain before those balmy beats beats maul.

Elite is a Malaysian female vocal group formed by KRU Records, consisting of five original members: Abby Abadi, Azza Zawari, Linda Rafar, Sasha Saidin, and Watie Sadali. Recognized as the longest-running female group in Malaysia, Elite is also celebrated as pioneers in promoting women's development within the country's music industry.
The group debuted as a duet act for KRU with the song "Metropolitan Diaries" from KRU's fifth studio album, Ooh! La! La!, in 1996. That same year, Elite released their first singles, "G.I.G" and "Manisnya Senyumanmu," which were featured in their debut album Catwalk (1996). These songs brought Elite significant recognition, taking them to the semi-finals of the 12th Muzik-Muzik competition. Additionally, their second collaboration with KRU on the single "Di Pintu Syurga" achieved success, topping the weekly charts on May 14, 1997. In early 1998, the group released their second studio album, Tamparan (1998), supported by five singles, including "Trauma," "Dua Hati," and "Tamparan Wanita." The latter was nominated for the 6th Music Industry Awards. Tamparan was the group's final album with Abby Abadi as part of the original lineup.
In 1999, Elite released their third studio album, Idola, which featured guest performances from X-Factor, as well as Norman Abdul Halim and Zam from Indigo on the track "Aku Siapa, Kau Siapa." Idola was the last album to feature Linda Rafar before she was replaced by Fiza Halim. The group returned in 2000 with a compilation album titled Merbahaya, which included 14 tracks, two of which were new singles. Merbahaya was the only album to feature vocals from Fiza and new member Hana Adnan. Abby Abadi and Linda Rafar also made a special appearance on the track "Selamat Tinggal Teman."
During their 10 years in the music industry, Elite sold over 100,000 albums, establishing themselves as one of the most successful female groups in Malaysia. Their flamboyant and energetic style had a notable influence on the fashion trends of Malaysian teenagers in the late 1990s. Elite also collaborated with the Malaysian government to promote women's development campaigns.
