London-based jazz artist Goya Gumbani stops by to share heartfelt picks from his collection.
I’m a visual artist and DJ from New Haven, Connecticut. My mixes are inspired by my family’s origins in Monterrey, Mexico, their migration to the US, and the music from Latin America that accompanied them on their journey and life in the US. This set is mixed with vinyl records I’ve been accumulating from the Northeast of the US to South of Mexico. For this mix, I’m imagining being at a family party and everyone gets up from their seat as soon as they hear a song they know and reminds them of their time in Mexico before emigrating to the US. Music my from my family’s past such as Cumbia Rebajada from Andres Landero and Lucho Campillo meets the present with Neo Cumbia artists like El Keamo and Turbo Sonidero and blends into House, Latin Disco, and Reggaeton. Throughout, I’m envisioning the joy that Latin music of all genres brings people of all generations together on the dance floor.

Remedy is a rapper from Staten Island, NY, and part of the Wu-Tang Killa Beez. Remedy were a rock band from the UK. They have now renamed themselves The Karma Heart. After emerging with the “Seen it All”/“Everything is Real” 12-inch single, Remedy appeared on the 1997 Wu-Tang Killa Bees: The Swarm compilation with his track "Never Again", a song about the Holocaust. This track remains his best-known work as well as his most highly regarded, and appeared on both his debut album, The Genuine Article, from 2001, and its follow-up, Code Red, from 2003 (Remedy considers the track to be effectively his signature theme song). Code Red included a track about the 9/11 attacks, as well as “A Muslim and a Jew,” which featured Remedy and fellow Wu-Tang affiliate Cilvaringz, rhyming as representatives of their respective sides in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict (with Wu-Tang leader The RZA acting as mediator).

Created out of a love for 70's rock music and a shared disappointment at today's 'disposable' attitude towards music, four friends, JENN CHERENE, 22, GRAHAM HASWELL, 22, LEE TUCK, 21 and MARK DODDS, 26, sought to write music which injected thought and passion into it’s listeners.

Remedy is a sophisticated and modern melodic rock band formed in Stockholm, Sweden in 2022 by Roland 'Rolli' Forsman. With a strong connection to the 80s, but with a highly modern touch, the band is driven by energetic guitars, vocals and catchy songs in a blend of rock, pop and metal. The band has an edge to its playing, and with its blend of retro and modern rock, this gives the guys a unique sound.
