A deep dive into scenes, record labels and genres from around the world.
This mix is about the feeling that the beginning of Spring brings - the sense of rebirth and possibility reinforced by the experience of having lived through winter. Joy, in this case, is rediscovering a familiar feeling of lightness that you'd forgotten, and living it again.

There are a few artists using this name. Two of them are singers, one is related to The Stranglers and another to Sniff 'n' the Tears.
Probably the most famous is the singer and songwriter with the Stranglers for 16 years. Paul Roberts joined the Stranglers in 1990 to replace Hugh Cornwell and left them in the spring of 2006 when the band recorded their 16th album Suite XIV.During his years with the Stranglers Paul co-wrote and sung many of the songs released by the band. Among them were songs as Heaven or Hell (the first single of the Stranglers with Paul), the classic Valley of the Birds, Sinister, Mine All Mine (from the 2003 comeback album Norfolk Coast) and the hit single that never was In Heaven She Walks.
His great voice and stage presence made a great impression on the punters that came to see the Stranglers on tour all over the world. Some of the songs he (co-)wrote became firm (live) favourites of the fans. In July 1997 the Stranglers celebrated the first 21 years of their career in the Royal Albert Hall with a superb gig where the band played together with the Electra Strings, giving the songs a great extra touch.
During the years Paul was with the Stranglers, some of the old fans never really accepted that the band carried on without Hugh and had no interest in the post-1990 line-up with Paul and guitarist John Ellis (who left in 2000).
After leaving the band in 2006 Paul concentrated on recording and playing live with his group Soulsec as well as various other projects. The Stranglers continued with guitarist/singer Baz Warne who has been with them since 2000 and has also performed with Paul as a duo in 2003/2004.
In the spring of 2009 Paul did a succesfull tour of the USA where he will return in september 2010. Since 2009 Paul has also been involved in various musical shows and tours singing the legendary rat pack songs of the forties and fifties which is a style he has made his own very impressively.
Paul Roberts (born in Tiverton, Devon, 1948) is the former lead singer and songwriter of Sniff 'n' the Tears. He is also known for his work as a photorealistic painter. There are a few artists using this name. Two of them are singers, one is related to The Stranglers and another to Sniff 'n' the Tears.
