The Tol-Puddle Martyrs Rock ’n’ Roll life began back in the mid sixties as Peter in Peter & the Silhouettes. First recording "Claudette Jones"/"The Natural Man". In 1967 the Tol-Puddle Martyrs were formed, recording two singles "Time Will Come"/"Social Cell" 1967 and "Nellie Bligh"/ "Love Your Life" 1968.
In 2005 a group of respected Australian Rock Historians & Radio Station 3CR, put together a book & CD “Wild About You”, to honour the first chapter of Australian Garage/Psych music. Seventeen new Australian bands would record seventeen tracks from the Sixties that were regarded as being important and influential in the development of Australian Rock Music, “Claudette Jones” & “Time Will Come” were chosen in that group of seventeen songs.
After discovering American and European Independent Radio stations playing the Martyrs songs and bands from around the world covering "Claudette Jones", the Tol-Puddle Martyrs reformed for the “Psych-Out USA” album, which was released in June 2007, featuring 11 new sixties songs, plus a new version of “Social Cell”. During the years in between Peter Rechter fronted The Secrets, whose music can be found at CD Baby and It's About Music.
