Continuum

Continuum

Continuum has been played on NTS in shows including Tafelmusik w/ Francesco Fusaro, featured first on 19 February 2023. Songs played include Study In Mixed Accents and Piece No. 2 For Small Orchestra (1986).

There are at least five artists with this name:

Continuum is a collaborative ambient and drone music project between Bass Communion (Steven Wilson of Porcupine Tree) and Dirk Serries (of Vidna Obmana and Fear Falls Burning).

Continuum is a progressive rock / metal band from Croatia.

Continuum was conceived in Holland by Hungarian multi-instrumentalist Yoel Schwarcz in 1967. The name “Continuum” was taken from the title of exhibitions of Schwarcz’s paintings in a London gallery for whom he painted professionally. Two fine albums were produced in the early 70's blending classical music with progressive rock and improvisation.

Continuum is a new music ensemble directed by Cheryl Seltzer and Joel Sachs, founded in 1966. The New York Times wrote: "Simply put, there is no musical organization in New York that produces more intellectually enticing or more viscerally satisfying programs than Continuum. Year after year, its explorations prove to be not only unusual and unexpected but also important and enduring…This ensemble has a long history of acting in behalf of composers whom others discover years or decades later".

Multi-talented and eclectic musician Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree, Bass Communion, Blackfield, No-Man, Incredible Expanding Mindfuck) and internationally renowned experimental artist Dirk Serries (vidnaObmana, fear falls burning) have joined together to bring you Continuum: A multi-layered synonym for their collective ambition and vision, motivated by their immense passion for a wide-range of musical styles. In the coming years Continuum will produce a series of limited edition albums for Soleilmoon Recordings.
