immer essen was an experimental electronic noise band formed in upstate New York in 1988 by vocalist Amity Brown and multi-instrumentalist Steven Schuldt. The group briefly included Canadian songwriter and guitarist Rosie O'Shea, but was primarily known as a duo. For most of their existence they were based in Boston, Massachusetts.

immer essen never toured, instead playing sporadically at clubs, house parties and industrial spaces in both New York and Massachusetts in the late 80's through late 90's. They released five cassette-only EPs: 'Why Vultures' (1989), '4X4' (1990), '5 to Forever' (1992), 'American Futurist' (1996) and 'Spiritsworld' (1998) before disbanding.
