The Fear Merchants has been played on NTS in shows including Crossed Wires w/ Amanda Siegel, featured first on 24 February 2023. Songs played include U-Boat Captain.

Little is known about the Fear Merchants but they consisted of Amos (a.k.a. L. Voag, real name Jim Welton, bass player of The Homosexuals) and Sara, both of Amos & Sara and Sara Goes Pop. They were possibly joined by Lepke Buchwalter (a.k.a. Lepke B) and other Homosexuals musicians. Their only release was the cassette "Mental" on Jim Welton's It's War Boys label in 1983.
