Dalto (born Dalto Roberto Medeiros in June 22, 1949 in Niterói, Rio de Janeiro) is a Brazilian singer.
He started his career in the beginning of the 1970s, as the vocalist of rock band Os Lobos (based in Niterói, State of Rio) recording the compact Fanny by label Top Tape. He then quit the group to study medicine and graduated as a doctor.
In 1974, he started his solo career recording a single for Odeon records. Success would only happen in the 1980s, precisely in 1981, with the song Bem-te-vi, written in partnership with Cláudio Rabelo and sung by Renato Terra, which sold 250 thousand copies.
In 1982 he kept composing but started singing his songs and had his biggest hit - "Muito Estranho", released as a single and a LP by EMI-Odeon records.
His second album, Pessoa, had a song by the same name which became one of the first in Brazil to be produced and executed with a full electronic arrangement; additional songs as "Espelhos D’Água" and "Anjo" ensured his position in Brazilian music both as composer and a singer.
Big hits related to the composer included a few covers - the song "Anjo", recorded by the group Roupa Nova and becoming a big hit in 1983; and the song Pessoa covered by Marina Lima in 1993.
Dalto stayed out of the limelight for a few years and in 1994 recorded the album "Guru" as well as "Cachorro Fujão" in 2000.
Recently Dalto composed to the soundtrack of the Brazilian soap opera "Viver a Vida" with the song "Faça um Pedido".
