Bluetile Lounge

Bluetile Lounge

Bluetile Lounge has been played on NTS shows including Perfect Sound Forever, with The Weight (And The Sea) first played on 31 March 2023.

Formed in Perth, Western Australia in 1991, Bluetile Lounge underwent a lengthy incubation period in order to perfect their singular sound, waiting a full two years later to debut, and even then only in the most intimate, living-room settings. These shows slowly led to dodgy pub gigs, and culminated in the creation of their debut album, lowercase. Released in late 1995 on the Summershine label via the recommendation of Low guitarist Alan Sparhawk, the album was distributed in the US by Sub Pop. A din of positive critical clamor generated enough buzz to land them slot at Australia's high profile Summersault festival in January '96, where their set attracted attention and praise from a slew of influential American alt-rockers, including Sonic Youth drummer Steve Shelley, who released the follow up, Half-Cut on his Smells Like Records label in 1998.
