Yanokami

Yanokami

Yanokami has been played on NTS in shows including A Month of Sundays w/ Bill Spencer, featured first on 16 April 2023. Songs played include David (Instrumental).

Yanokami is a musical unit formed by Akiko Yano (矢野顕子) and Rei Harakami. Yano discovered Harakami's work in 2003 and approached him about working together. Harakami had been a fan of Yano's work for a long time and was happy to collaborate with her. The two began working together in 2004 and debuted formally as Yanokami in 2007 with a self-titled album. They concentrated mainly on live performances from 2008 to 2010, playing at both small venues and large festivals.

Harakami died of a cerebral hemorrhage in July 2011. Despite this loss, Yano announced her intention to continue Yanokami. Scheduled performances went on as planned, and their second album was released in December 2011 using what recordings Harakami had completed. Yanokami continues to perform with guest artists including U-Zhaan, Yoshinori Sunahara (砂原良徳), Illreme (イルリメ), and Maki Morishita (森下真樹).
