Gitbox! is a Dutch indie rock / alt country band, led by singer Roeland van Niele. They once started on a porch: two guys singing and playing traditional music. But that´s some years ago now; the band no longer consists of two guys. People came and went. What remained was a steady flow of songs that are always, in some way, traditional.
Between 1994 and now they´ve released four full length albums and a rare 10 inch dedicated to the town of Gary, Indiana. They´ve toured all over Europe and the US and have been invited to play on festivals such as Lowlands and Crossing Borders. Also they have collaborated with musicians such as Carol van Dijk, Pascal Deweze, Mauro Pawlovski, Allan Muller and Paul van Stiphout.
Gitbox! will probobly appeal to people who enjoy bands such as 16 Horsepower, Daryll-Ann, and The Postal Service. More important though, is the bands' own distinctive subtle sound you'll only get to know by checking it out.
