They have had major international hits and toured around the world. They were in the happy days in Hit-house and has seen time with the girls shriek final scene at the edge. And then they have appeared with Cliff Richard & The Shadows and other large rock koryfæer. Over 40 years they have been exemplary ambassadors for Danish barbed wire - and they did not intend to stop the interim - The Rocking Ghosts!
Barbed wire nice boys - The Rocking Ghosts - may, after 40 years of pop music's service look back on a glorious career. While they may rejoice that they are still very popular and enjoys great popularity everywhere, where they come.
In the 90s they got a tremendous comeback and success has continued into the new millennium, where the diary reveals that the barbed wire noble ambassadors have exposures more than a year ahead. They could very well live on the music as in the 60s, but today they prefer to have it as a wonderful hobby alongside their civilian occupations.
When you have said The Rocking Ghosts, one must also say John Andersen, but it was not until the publication of the group's fourth single plate to the large audience really sees him. After three international instrumental hits, produced by guitar legend Jorgen Ingmann came the big breakthrough, in 1965 with "Belinda" which was sung by John Andersen. It was high on the Danish chart at 13 months and was also released in several other countries worldwide, including Germany, USA and Japan.
As throughout his career as John Andersen also delivered a stunning vocal, as the group in 1966-67 with great hittede "Oh, oh what a kiss." But 10 years later - in 1977 - decided the popular singer for putting music on the shelf. And such was the next 12 years until April 1989 he again took his usual seat in the orchestra.
Hitmelodierne "Belinda" and "Oh, oh what a kiss is still firmly in the repertoire - and they take cones from the loyal audience every time. Both tunes are now available in different Greatest Hits albums, and they are found in Danish versions of the latest CD "At home".
Drummer Svend Bonavent was in 1962 to start a forerunner of The Rocking Ghosts, and apart from a long break from music in the 80s, he - along with John Andersen - made his mark after just pressing the group through most of the 40 years.
In addition to the two counts crews today are guitarist Jorgen Mühlbrandt that joined actively in 1983, and Niels Werner in 1999, bassist Michael Eckhausen in 1989, and keyboard player Ole Trier in 1994. Thus, it is the edition of The Rocking Ghosts that have held together the longest.
In the years 1964-68 belonged The Rocking Ghosts absolute barbed elite at home. They played on all the known places such as Giraffe and Hit House and the many popklubber in the province. Moreover, they toured for long periods around the world. They have appeared on the world's TV stations and concerts with such big names as The Rolling Stones, Herman's hermit, The Swinging Blue Jeans, The Spot and Nick mentioned Cliff Richard & The Shadows, and on record and CD front, it is been to no fewer than 11 albums, 18 singles and involvement in 22 different Greatest Hits LPs from around the world.
