My NTS
Live now
1
London
19:00 - 20:00

Babak Ganjei's monthly grunge and garage hangover rolls through with classics old and new, from Memphis to London, interspersed, of course, with totally irrelevant jokes and chat.

2
Manchester
19:00 - 20:00

Centred around forward-thinking club music and experimental sounds, Mutualism functions as a label, mix series and club night with a focus on inclusivity, exploration and collaboration.

Ragana

Ragana

Ragana has been played on NTS in shows including ARRHYTHMIA, featured first on 27 June 2023. Songs played include 666, In The Light Of The Burning World and You Take Nothing.

post-black metal from Olympia, WA

reggae-dub jam

Ragana (Latvian and Lithuanian for "witch") is a two-piece experimental black metal band composed of drummer Nicole and guitarist Maria that formed in Olympia WA. Ragana's music can be described as witchy, atmospheric black metal.

Review of their album All's Lost from the March 2013 issue of Maximum Rock'n'Roll: "Most everything coming out of there these days (at the DIY level) is thought-out, inventive, inspired and interesting. RAGANA is no exception. They are two people playing witchy, stripped-down, experimental black metal/sludge/atmospheric/inspired music. Sometimes the vocals grow from almost a whisper to a tortured scream as the drums boom along into messy blast beats that will pound your brain. At their quietest most serene moments they sound akin to their neighbors in DOGJAW but blow all comparisons out of the water once they hit the distortion pedal."

This project did not emerge due to too much free time. All its members were far too absorbed in their own musical activities to waste their time on any insignificant playing. This mission was only possible because of the powerful vision of the Reggae-dub Jam, with its tight-fisted, rigorous and natural sounds concentrated between the tones. This music is neither mainstream nor beyond the boundaries of its epoch, it just went aside to the less busy ground. Here the raw yet simple foundations are being harmonised in spontaneous arrangements by the melodious female vocals.
