For the past 5 years Bay Bryan has been lovingly based in Manchester (originally hailing from the Rocky Mountains of Colorado (USA)). As a songwriter Bay has an exquisite ability to take us on a journey through song that reminds of artists like Laura Marling, The Magic Lantern and Anaïs Mitchell. In performance, Bay captivates their audience, drawing from skills as an actor, drag queen and storyteller. “The Not So Ugly Sisters,” a theatre show that Bay co-composed songs for was named in The Guardian as one of the Top 25 shows to book for Christmas 2021. The short film “Egg Party,” with music scored by Bay, won the audience choice awards at both the Coven and Cinequest Film Festivals (2021).

The Meadow, Bay’s current project, is an alternative/folk-fusion concept album (released 2023) ultimately about the bitter-sweet process of transitioning from one life-chapter into the next. Bay has only just begun seriously releasing music as of 2021. And yet his/their four released singles from The Meadow have so far received notable attention: with Sweet Joan being played on BBC Radio 3 in October 2022; garnering reviews from both Folk Radio UK and Fortitude Magazine; while previous singles Sticky Shadows and Let Go both made waves in the indie music community with high praise from Indie Music Centre and Rising Artists Blog; Indie Top 39 even named Sticky Shadows as the best song of 2021.

Bay formally trained in Musical Theatre at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and since graduating in 2012 has worked across industries as a singer, musician, actor, drag queen, mover/shaker and composer! Creativity and intuition are the two main driving forces for Bay. As long as they feel excited and confident that they are the right queen for the job, they will immerse themselves in any given creative process.
