Kamelie
Kamelie
Kamelie has been played on NTS shows including Natural Sciences, with Tropic first played on 29 March 2015.
Kamelie are a Czech female pop duo consisting of Hana Bustikova and Dana Vlkova. They are sometimes knows as "Hanna & Danna" or "Hana & Dana" in Germany.
They first met in a band that was part of the concert program of singer Josef Laufer. After some time Hana left to sing alongside Jiri Korn and Dana went on maternity leave. In the early 80s they decided to sing together and so the girl band Kamelie was born. It was around that time they met with talented musicians Petr Dvorak and Pavel Ruzicka, who had just formed the duo ORM. Soon after that their collaboration began, backed up by the at that time excellent technical equipment. This collaboration gave birth to 6 studio albums and a few singles full of hits mostly in the genre of disco. In 1986 they received the Golden record from Supraphon Records.
While working on their 3rd album, Eduard Krecmar came on board and became the duo's main text writer and their songs became more and more frequent on radio stations. They also started to appear regularly on various television shows and toured most of Europe with their concert program. In 1983 they appeared at the World Popular Song Festival in Tokyo '83. For foreign fans they released 3 full lenght LPs in english.
Thanks to the frequent appearances in Germany in the early 90s, they were offered an apportunity to record a CD in the genre of Country - in german. The song "Hej pane senku" from the pen of the composers at ORM, with which they appeared on TV Nova's New Year's Eve show in 1999, was also in that genre, and was one of the three new singles on the retrospective album "20x Kamelie - The Best of Hana & Dana" that was released by Sony Music Bonton.
At the present time Kamelie are collaborating mostly with young musicians and have settled in the genre of modern pop.
In spring 2006 they released their newest studio album called "Detail" featuring their latest hits "Runway" and "Necekej", again composed by Petr and Pavel ORM.
