Izumi Chidori (real name: Yoshiko Nakayama) is an enka singer from Suginami-ku, Tokyo. In her second year of elementary school, she joined the Toho Performing Arts School Children's Department, and after she graduated high school, she went on to study under composer Shin-ichi Nozaki. She debuted in 1969 with the song "Hizakura Jingi", and continued to release hits that year, such as "Hizakura Sanjou", "Hizakura Kaidou", and "Hibotan Tosei".
