Mal Pope
Mal Pope
Mal Pope has been played on NTS in shows including The NTS Breakfast Show , featured first on 10 January 2024. Songs played include Altered State.
Blues-influenced, Mal has most recently added musicals to his ever-widening repertoire - 'Amazing Grace' and 'The Contender' will soon be joined by 'Cappuccino Girls', whilst there is some substance to the suggestion that the life of Dylan Thomas may also be given the MPH treatment
Mal has a backing group of well-established (and all-from-Swansea) musos - including master keyboardist Nige Hopkins, who will probably also turn up on other pages - the Jacks
His recordings cover largely MoR, but do have distinct themes. He has also sung with a range of well-known artists from across the musical spectrum - as part of his own TV series (familiar to those of us on the Land of Heaven side of the Severn!)
Influences include Mary Chapin Carpenter
Older fans include Simon Mayo
