Gisela Bellsolà (Baó, *1947) is a singer from Roussillon who comes to La Cançó from the world of theater.
Her first album (Salut amb la poesia) includes a series of poems by northern Catalan authors (Joan Morer, Jordi-Pere Cerdà, Joan Cayrol and Gerard Salgas) set to music by Jordi Barre, Miquel Maldonado, Ray Samson and herself.
In 1981 she carried out an ambitious project: the album and show Bikini, the fire of the oceans, a cantata written by Gerard Salgas (text) and Miquel Maldonado (music), which she performed accompanied by the forty musicians of the Perpignan Chamber Orchestra and the thirty-five singers of the Perpignan Polyphonic Ensemble.
Her latest LP, so far (País Catedral, 1987), is once again a collection of musical poems by Jordi Pere Cerdà, Mònica Bellsolà, Joan Morer, Josep Sebastià Pons, and two poets from southern Catalonia: Maria Mercè Marçal ("Velles corrandes para la Pepa", "Anna marinera") and Segimon Serrallonga ("La fugida", "El cavaller", "Vam partir todos cinc"). In 1995 she collaborated in the show by Rafael Subirachs Cançó de la terra, based on texts by Jacint Verdaguer.
She has also participated in three albums by Gerard Zuchetto, focusing on traditional themes and troubadour songs, the last of which has received the Académie Charles-Cros award.
