Jeremy Ivey

Jeremy Ivey

Jeremy Ivey has been played on NTS in shows including Supporter Radio: Metamorphosis, featured first on 30 April 2024. Songs played include Unwed Fathers.

A Nashville-based singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, Jeremy Ivey first established himself in the early 2010s as a member of the country-soul band Buffalo Clover alongside his wife, singer/songwriter Margo Price. When Price's career took off in 2016, Ivey served as her guitarist and sideman for several years before signing a deal with Anti- and launching a solo career of his own with the albums The Dream and the Dreamer and Waiting Out the Storm.

Growing up in a conservative family in Georgia, Ivey spent a number of years bouncing around the country, working in kitchens and playing guitar. He eventually ended up in Nashville where he met Price. Creative and romantic partners, the couple spent some time in Colorado busking and writing songs together before heading back to Music City, where they eventually married and became active in the local indie scene. After playing a background role in various local bands, including the Secret Handshake, Ivey and Price formed Buffalo Clover in 2008. The band's vintage-inspired country, rock, and soul earned them an audience, and over the next several years, they released three albums together. When Price released her solo debut, 2016's acclaimed Midwest Farmer's Daughter, Ivey settled into a sideman role as her musical foil/lead guitarist during the next several years.

In 2019, after many years of working as a collaborator and supporting other artists, he took his own turn in the spotlight, signing a deal with Anti- to make an album of his own. Released in September of that year, Ivey's debut, The Dream and the Dreamer, offered a mix of warm, guitar-driven country rock and folk with a light touch of psychedelia. Proving himself to be a quick worker, he went right back into the studio to record 2020's musically similar, though more overtly political Waiting Out the Storm which, like its predecessor, was produced by Price.
