Contessa embodies two contrasting worlds: 17th century opulence and a complexly futuristic dimension. This neo-aristocratic existence is a lonely one for Contessa as her world is unforgiving. Her innocence is her vulnerability but her strength resides in honesty and compassion. Contessa tells the story in retrospect of her battle to escape, of defying the darkness, combatting the forces of the unknown and finally gaining acceptance in a world of future-past in which she can be her true self.
