Bay Root

Bay Root has been played on NTS shows including Whodis? w/ 56 DJs, with Out And Down first played on 25 July 2024.

The duo was comprised of Brick Briscoe and Tedd Klipsch, who are now the duo Tall Young Men. Briscoe is also a solo artist and documentary filmmaker. They work out of Southern Indiana and Seattle.

bay-root offers up an effective, no-bullshit take on English-inspired post-punk. These guys came from the "scene" in smalltown Vincennes, Indiana that exported the Lazy Cowgirls dudes to L.A. For this recording, future Cowgirls Pat Todd and Allen Clark were the rhythm section; vocalist Pat played bass, with Allen on drums. It's the first recording by both, and Slippy Town fans might want to note that Allen was also a founding member of Crawlspace.

Todd was a friend of Briscoe's. They met when Todd was handing out his musical tastes from a local record shop. Todd's recommendations figured strongly in Briscoe's influences. When time came to record this track, Bay Root had recently lost their drummer and bassist because their parents didn't want them associated with "the punk rock." Todd and Clark were the obvious choices in small town Indiana.
