Alan Avon & The Toy Shop

Alan Avon & The Toy Shop

Alan Avon & The Toy Shop was first played on NTS on 12 July 2013. Songs played include Night To Remember.

Alan Avon and the Toyshop was formed by singer Alan Avon (lead singer from Hedgehoppers Anonymous who previously had a number one hit with Good News Week).

They were a early Heavy Rock/Psychedelia band who's recordings have now become popular amongst record collectors. Their single "A Night To Remember" released in the UK and America in 1970 can be found on several currently available compilation albums including Hens Teeth and Psychedelia 1. There Music was considered innovative for it's time. Introducing them on a live Radio One gig in 1970, DJ Noel Edmunds described them as being one of the most exciting and loudest band in Britain.

The band were signed and produced by Terry Kennedy who was at that time one of the UK's top producers, he was also responsible for Donovan, The Flower Pot Men and The Ivy League plus many more.

They were a professional outfit touring extensively and playing at some of the Country's top venues including: the Cavern and the Marquee. They were regularly featured one Radio One and were seen by number of top DJ's as being one of the most promising Bands at that time.
