Max Lorenz (born Max Sülzenfuß, 10 May 1901 in Düsseldorf, died 11 Jan 1975 in Salzburg). German heroic tenor famous for singing Wagner.

Lorenz studied with Ernst Grenzebach in Berlin. He made his debut at the Semperoper in Dresden in 1927. From 1929 to 1944 – Berlin State Opera, also New York Metropolitan Opera (1931–34), the Bayreuth Festspielhaus (1933–39, 52, 54), Royal Opera House (1934, 37), Vienna State Opera (1929–33, 36–44, 54).

He became known as one of the world's leading heldentenors, renowned for his performances in Tristan, Siegfried and Walther. He was also a notable Otello, Bacchus and Herod. At his best in the 1920s and 1930s, Lorenz possessed a powerful, ringing voice.

Max Lorenz is buried at the Zentralfriedhof in Vienna (group 40, grave 37).
