DJ Slip

DJ Slip

DJ Slip has been played on NTS in shows including KESTREL EXPLORATIONS , featured first on 27 August 2015. Songs played include X-Men, One's 4 Da Money (DJ Slip West Coast Remix) and Space For Child (All You Need Is Love) (Deep House Love & Peace Mix).

There are two DJ Slips

1) DJ Slip (Troy Geary) got started in techno in the early 1990s in Minneapolis. After getting his feet thoroughly wet in the industry, he moved to New York where he continued to make his mark with his rhythmic grooves and unique tones. Eventually DJ Slip landed in Portland where he continues to work the beats.

2) DJ Slip (Terry Allen), son of sound equipment provider, Richard Allen, a solo artist and producer active since the late 80s, and also a member of Compton's Most Wanted. Although featured on the cover of their first album, DJ Slip was a producer introduced to the duo at a young age of 17 through the connections of his father, Richard Allen, who provided sound equipment to the The Unknown DJ and Alonzo Williams, both of whom produced early rap and electro-hop artists on the Techno Hop Label. These were some of the earliest west coast rap pioneers and DJ Slip even co-released a track with DJ Unknown in 1987, when he was 15. This experience and skill set earned DJ Slip the chance to produce It's A Compton Thang for MC Eiht and MC Chill in 1989.
