Mere Women are an Australian post-punk band, based out of Sydney, New South Wales. The band is composed of vocalist/keyboardist Amy Wilson, guitarist Flyn McKinnirey, bassist/vocalist Trisch Roberts and drummer Mac Archibald. The band formed in 2011, originally featuring Wilson, McKinnirey and drummer Kat Byrnes. Wilson had previously played solo under the moniker Little a, while McKinnirey had played in Ohana and Byrnes had played in THE THAW. They released their debut single, the double A-side "Sun Rising/Waves," that same year. This was followed by the release of their debut album, Old Life, on June 30 2012.
For their second album, Your Town, the band signed to Poison City Records. The album was released on July 25 2014. This was followed by a split seven-inch with Melbourne band Gold Class, which featured the previously-unreleased single "Numb." The split was released by Black Wire Records on May 6, 2016. In September, the band released another new single, "Drive." It marked the first release to feature Trisch Roberts as a member of the band, who joined officially in 2016 after nearly a year of playing as an auxiliary bassist.
The band's third album, Big Skies, was released on June 16 2017. It was preceded by two additional singles: the album's title track in March, and "Eternally" in May. The album also marked the band's final release to feature Byrnes as drummer. Byrnes played her final show with the band in late 2017 at Beatdisc Records in Parramatta, leaving the band to focus on raising her family. She was replaced by Mac Archibald, who played with Roberts in Sydney band Cat Heaven.
A standalone single, "Skin," was released in May 2018. The band then released a further two singles in 2019: "Skin" in May, and "W.Y.G." in November.
