Mauve Sideshow

Mauve Sideshow

Mauve Sideshow has been played on NTS shows including Don't Trip w/ Margarita, with Absorbed By The Periphery first played on 21 December 2015.

Mauve Sideshow was the husband-and-wife duo of Dusty Lee (electronics) and Treva Dea (wordless vocals and whispers). Together they created abstract ambient with spacey synths, hypnotic vocals and tons of Mellotron.

"Dark Flowers" is the first movement in a love story that develops over five albums, a love story that begins with Treva Dea’s spur of the moment decision to move to Houston, Texas from London and her chance encounter with Dusty Lee’s public radio graveyard shift. Treva became involved with Dusty Lee’s existing project, Kangaroo Kourt, in the last years of the 1980s. The two quickly moved away from that project’s emphasis on side-long slabs of tape collage to develop a more unusual sound. They later moved to Seattle, Washington, United States.

Treva says: "Mauve Sideshow was consciously an organic development to merge our visions of sound into something new. Unconsciously however, it was a shift into a different social space, a maturing and combining of the male and female principles into a partnership. Kangaroo Kourt began the love story that Mauve Sideshow encapsulates".

Discography: 1990 - Dark Flowers 1991 - Stray Apparitions 1993 - Mauve Sideshow 1993 - Meet Me In the Wasteland 1994 - The Girl 1997 - Blood Will Tell
