He is the son of famous singer and actor Kishore Kumar and famous bengali actress Ruma Guha Thakurta, and has sung many popular Bollywood film songs in the 1980s and early 1990s. As a leading playback singer in Bollywood, he sang many songs for Kumar Gaurav who was a rising star in the 1980s.
