The Static

The Static

The Static has been played on NTS shows including 88 Transition w/ Tasker, with Don't Let Me Stop You first played on 8 May 2016.

The Static were a late 70s New York-based post-punk / no wave band that included Theoretical Girls guitarist Glenn Branca, as well as Barbara Ess and Christine Hahn. Their style was a mixture between noisy punk rock and hints of (post-)minimalism. They released one single (My Relationship/Don't Let Me Stop You) and one live album. Glenn Branca later went on to become a celebrated experimental composer in his own right (sometimes working with Barbara Ess), while Christine Hahn left New York to form the moderately successful German band Malaria!.
