Glorious Strangers

Glorious Strangers

Glorious Strangers has been played on NTS shows including The Slip, with Move It Time first played on 21 May 2016.

Glorious Strangers were a band started by audio engineer and record producer Wharton Tiers as a vehicle for his own compositions. In addition to Tiers, whose album credit is noted as "everything," the group included Jean Seton Shaw on bass, Jan Ewing on keyboards, and lead vocals by Carol Tiers.

The group was commonly associated with the no wave movement. Their 1980 single, Why Don't You Join The Army? also became known as the title track of the seminal 1982 compilation Why Don't You Join The Army?.

In 1983, the group released its eponymous, full-length Glorious Strangers. Track 4, Move It Time was subsequently included on the 2005 Soul Jazz compilation New York Noise Vol. 2 (Music From The New York Underground 1977-1984).
