Long time NTS veteran and Apron and Youth affiliate SHAMOS heads a monthly late night slot. Expect a varied, yet consistently cohesive selection, as he joins the dots between rugged analog house, tripped out hip-hop, the punkier dregs of new wave and other leftfield cuts along the way.

Menstruation Sisters

Menstruation Sisters

Menstruation Sisters has been played on NTS shows including OnoTesla, with Lions, Leopards, Tigers And Cheetahs first played on 28 January 2017.

Menstruation Sisters (Lisa & Naomi Tocatly, Oren Ambarchi and Nick Kamiussis) are more of a natural phenomenon than a musical group. Owing more to the sound of ice melting and eggs hatching than strummed guitars and pounded drums, the Sisters keep one ear on the ground and the other towards the atmosphere. Rather than working within the lines of modern rhythm and structure, they revert towards a primal direction, cutting off the fat and oozing forth only the most natural and unfettered sounds. Naturally, such a technique can be unsettling, as it's not something most humans are interested to hear, or have heard since upright-walking became a viable mode of transportation. This is music for those who kill their own food.

While remaining fairly anonymous within music scenes near and far, Menstruation Sisters have worked with labels such as New York City's Menlo Park and Australia's Saucerlike, both daring enough to press the Sisters into a concrete form. Members of Menstruation Sisters have also branched off and found time to collaborate with a variety of notables, such as Fennesz, John Zorn and Otomo Yoshihide. However, these high-brow references do not hold any bearing over the decidedly ancient sound of Menstruation Sisters.

After a small variety of vinyl and compact disc releases, White Denim is happy to release brand new material by Australia's most confusing act, three tracks that turn the clock back past Pangaea.
