Mushi Mushi

Mushi Mushi

Mushi Mushi has been played on NTS in shows including RTZ, featured first on 5 February 2017. Songs played include Chicken.

They sound like a swarm of very unhappy bumblebees and a mad old analogue computer having a fight with a drummer. Don't worry, it's just an experiment, and one you can dance to too! The Mushi's machine-gun electronic sound avoids any categorisation, but we'll try anyway: they are the missing link between Client and Devo, between Fugazi and the Chemical Brothers, between Man Or Astroman? and Add N to (X). It really shouldn't work but it does. Go figure.

mushi mushi's album "sequins save lives" is out worldwide on distraction now!

"13 tracks of rare quality which sound like they’ve been sculpted out of the aural equivalent of fuzzy felt; containing equal parts vim, verve and noise-pop know-how. Oozing lo-fi style and breathing confidence it’ll literally have you standing on a chair and applauding." Album of the Month - The Crack Magazine

“Swaggering crunchy Punk-Funk minus the posturing and drained of all that hipster shite drives home the kind of bass that the Chemicals used to ram you with when they used to have testicles and attitude.” Stylus Magazine

"Producers and studio boffins are always trying to make dance music sound real and ‘live’, turning to a million different tricks of the trade to make a computer generated ditty sound fresh and immediate, when in all honesty they should just give up and give room to more bands like Mushi Mushi who seem to be able to make vibrant, energetic music just by learning how to play their instruments well. Oh, and by recognising the importance of a good drummer." Unpeeled

"Sequins Saves Lives is punk funk with a healthy sense of Warp Records aesthetics, and its music that’s more about the dance floor than the posturing. Mushi Mushi are/were an energetic analogue electro mix of b-lines and riffs propelled along on shit-hot n’lean door-ramming drums."Foxy Digitalis

"a perfect mixture and cranks cronks, brilliantly positioned on electro-psychedelic-punk-fuzz." Nerds Attack
