Mankinds Audio Development

Mankinds Audio Development

Mankinds Audio Development has been played on NTS in shows including My Ever Changing Moods w/ DJ Lance Rock, featured first on 24 March 2017. Songs played include Sunfeast.

Mankinds Audio Development was an offshoot of Play Dead in that it featured Rob Hickson on vocals and Pete Waddleton on bass. Backing vocals were provided by Look Back In Anger's Mich Ebeling; the solitary 12" was produced by John Fryer and released on Criminal Damage.

Rob Hickson's vocals are instantly recognisable while the overall musical sound is not dissimilar to a New Order 12" B-Side. Apparently Rob and Pete were less than impressed with Criminal Damage and had plans for future releases, with an entirely different sound, on their own Tanz label but these never came to fruition and Play Dead / M.A.D. ceased to exist in 1986.
