Soul soaked retro-pop, mediocre dancing, and much feel-goodery.
Soul/Retro-pop outfit EST. April of 2021. The concept was born in 2017 at a recording session at the South by Southwest music festival in Austin, TX. Producer Matt Young (Vacationer/Body Language) and Luke wrote their first song in the throwback Genre in about an hour and the result was something different from Matt’s typical pop centric productions and Luke’s more singer/songwriter influenced releases. Whatever it was, to Luke and Matt, it was exciting, fresh, and very welcomed. From here, as they say… “the rest is history.” Bouncing between Matt’s Studio in Brooklyn and Luke’s in Los Angeles the pair churned out two and three songs every time they sat down to write. Before too long they found themselves atop a robust collection of undeniable material. Pulling inspiration from their favorite Soul/RnB records of the sixties and seventies as well as the sights and sounds of their east and west coast cities, the result was something familiar yet distinctively different.
