The Shallows has been played on NTS shows including Great Southern Lands w/ James W, with Suzanne Said first played on 30 August 2017.

There are three bands with the name The Shallows:

(1) The Shallows are an 11 piece folk/indie outfit from Perth, W.A.

(2) A short-lived group from Christchurch, New Zealand. Fronted by Roy Montgomery on guitar and vocals.

The sound achieved on their lone 1985 7" single Suzanne Said b/w Trial By Separation was the template for Montgomery's mid-90s guitar/vocal singles from during his New York apartment sojourn. The record was the product of a $750 government arts grant.

The Shallows were rounded off by former 25 Cents, Victor Dimisich Band, Pin Group and Scorched Earth Policy member, Mary Heney on guitar and vocals, and M.S. Agro on bass, a sometime member of the Axemen.

Soon after, Roy Montgomery retreated from music for five years, until appearing in Dadamah around the start of the 1990s.

(3) A punk rock trio from Gothenburg, Sweden formed in 2008.
