Originally based in Dallas, Texas, Vas Deferens Organization initially emerged as a briefly assembled large-scale collective (responsible for the first two cassette-only releases), however the stable and permanent formation of Vas Deferens Organization would emerge in 1995 as the duo of former New Orleans resident Matt Castille and former L.A. resident Eric Lumbleau. During the initial Dallas period (circa 1995-1998), Vas Deferens Organization issued a flood of releases across a stable of wildly diverse record labels ranging from those specifically earmarked for the psychedelic collector community (Aether, Timothy's Brain etc.) and those specializing in overtly experimental musical manifestations (Charnel Music, Eerie Materials, etc.). In addition to their own recordings (and those done in collaboration (with Brad Laner of Medicine and Electric Company as well as with Mercury Rev), Vas Deferens Organization were also well known as producers for a host of other acclaimed psychedelic musicians, notably Ohm, Mazinga Phaser and J. Bone Cro.
