Rakketax was a Dutch post-punk band that was active in the years 1979-1983 from the Utrecht area of the Netherlands. The songs were minimalist, the tempo was usually high and the vocals were fierce, but there was also room for melodies and unusual song structures.
The band consisted of Jeroen Dunselman (vocals, bass, drums), Harry Haakman (vocals, bass, drums) and Niels de Hoog (guitar). There was frequent performance in the Netherlands, Belgium and Italy. Jeroen and Harry changed roles halfway through. Jeroen previously played guitar in the previous edition of the band (1979-1980), with singer Frederieke ‘Fretje’ Nijenhuis, bass player Gerard ‘Koekie’ Kollaard and his brother Tjako on drums. In that line-up, "Van Agt" was included for the ep Utreg Punx. Later Niels also joined the band. The VPRO radio program Oorkussen broadcast a concert of this arrangement at the beginning of 1980, recorded in the Effenaar in Eindhoven, where they played in the support act of the British band The Raincoats.
In 1981 the band produced an E.P. with six songs, they self-released on 7 inch. In 1982, three songs were contributed to the compilation LP Als je haar maar goed zit Volume #1 (Vögelspin Records). The recordings were made in the studio of Dolf Planteijdt. A live recording can also be found on the full-length Parkhof 11-4-81 (VG Records).
