A pioneer in the distinctly Japanese sonics of "environmental" sound design, composer Takashi Kokubo began his solo career in the early 1980s, making synthesizer compositions inspired by classical music in the vein of fellow Japanese composer Isao Tomita, but across the following decades, his productions would pay deep homage to the sounds of the natural world and its spiritually soothing properties – as both inspiration for his music, and as a prominent feature in the music itself.

A New Beginning

A New Beginning

A New Beginning has been played on NTS shows including Ted Draws, with The Rhythm first played on 16 January 2018.

Formed in 2000 from the remaining members of Infernal Combustion, A New Beginning consisted of Jamie Ravinski (vocals/guitar), Tyler Ring (drums), Chris Catani (guitar/vocals), and Bryan Donahue (bass). After playing many local shows around the New England area the band went through many lineup changes. First Bryan left to join Strutter, and Jon Perri (now in Ericson) filled in to recorded their EP "Taking Off" in 2002. Now at the top of their game, the members let Tyler go due to differences and recruited Jared Tocci on drums to continue playing shows. The band never made another album and played a few more months then slowly dissappeared off the scene with the original members. Hopefully you will see them come back from hibernation with a few of the same members under a new name in the future. Until then, continue checking their website (www.anb.cjb.net) for updates and info on any new projects.
