An early child prodigy on accordion, Columbus Fruge began playing dances at the age of 11 around his hometown of Armaudville, Louisiana. In 1929, he recorded four sides for Victor, of which saut crapaud was included on the 1952 folksong compendium Anthology of American Folk Music.
