Jessica Care moore-Poole is the CEO of the thriving publishing house, Moore Black Press. One of the most celebrated, published poets and public speakers of her generation, jessica Care moore has issued a strong, defiant, and educated voice into the literary, theatrical, publishing and music industries.

You've already witnessed the dynamic young voice from the Motor City that swept the nationally televised It's Showtime at the Apollo's notoriously tough audiences off their feet, winning a record five consecutive weeks with her powerful lyrics. jessica Care moore made history on that stage and is recognized as an Apollo Legend. Jessica is the current star, producer and writer of the a new poetry and music driven show SPOKEN! on the Black Family Channel, operated by CEO Robert Townsend. The show is produced in association with Moore Black Press.

Author of the best selling poetry collections, The Words Don't Fit In My Mouth, and The Alphabet Verses The Ghetto, she is no ordinary poet; she is one of the hottest young book publishers in the country. The CEO of Moore Black Press was awarded a Small Press Award from the African-Americans Helping Authors Organization in NYC.

Says moore-Poole, "2005 is an exciting year for my company. We are publishing several new titles and projects. We're kicking off The Legacy Tour. As an activist and lecturer, jessica has also become a strong voice in the fight against the AIDS epidemic, recently performing and writing an original poem, Invisible Women during the United Nations World Aids Day Commemoration to bring awareness to women and children living with HIV. She has offered her time and voice to the AIDS WALK Opening Ceremonies in NYC, San Francisco, LA and Atlanta. She is one of the organizers of the successful Hip-Hop-A-Thon Concert, which helped to increase AIDS education in the Black and Latino Bay Area Community. She helped launch a writing fellowship, DIALOG in Atlanta, and continues to be a prominent voice in the literary arts community in her new home-based office in Georgia. She is the writer in residence for the Art at Work program, is a "next generation" producers of the National Black Arts Festival, and the facilitator of The Langston Hughes National Poetry Circle Project in Atlanta.

jessica Care moore has shared stages and worked with numerous literary and musical artists such as George Clinton, Antonio Hart, NAS, Ossie Davis, Mos Def, the late great Gregory Hines, Judith Jamison, CeCe Winans, Anthony David, Roy Ayers, Gil Scott Herron, Sonia Sanchez, Steve Harvey, Cedric The Entertainer, Patrice Rushen, Talib Kweli, Ntozake Shange, Nikki Giovanni, The Last Poets and many more. She is one of the returning stars of the HBO Series Russell Simmons presents: Def Poetry Jam and has been featured on B.E.T.'s, NYLA, The Ed Gordon Show, Teen Summit, NBC's Today Show, and U.P.N.'s Living The Dream Special.

Care moore is the author of the play There Are No Asylums for the Real Crazy Women. This one-woman stage production brings to life the story of Vivienne Eliot, the late first wife of famous poet T.S. Eliot. Fusing her modern use of poetry, hip-hop culture, feminist thought and language, Care moore offers a moving and innovative portrayal of an English woman born in 1888. Her new theater show, AlphaPhobia, is a semi-autobiographical sketch about a female poet who believes the alphabet is trying to kill her. This innovative and insightful production premiered at the 14th St. Playhouse in Atlanta during the National Black Arts Festival in 2002. She is one of the featured actors/poets in the film Hughes Dream Harlem (STARZ), star of the award winning indie film , His/Herstory, and the soon to be released hip hop film, Under Da Gun, featuring Umi and M1 of Dead Prez.

jessica Care moore has performed for audiences in Toulouse, Perriguex, Paris, England, Scotland, South Africa, Berlin, and Holland. She was recently asked to be a part of the 10th anniversary of South African Democracy Celebrations and will tour in Cape Town, Joburg, and Durban, leading workshops sponsored by the American Embassy. Her words inspire along with her innovative approach to music. A blend of funk, hip-hop, soul and rock, she is creatively influenced by artists like, Betty Davis, Janis Joplin, Prince, The Temptations, and Marvin Gaye. Care moore's soulful, raspy voice leads the drum & bass-rock-poetry band Detroit Read (pronounced "red" like the color). Her dynamic stage show fuses rapid-fire-heartfelt poetry with heart-pounding rock, melodic vocals, acoustic guitar, house, & electric hip-hop. As a recording artist, she was worked with platinum Columbia recording artist NaS on Nastradamus, Impulse recording artist Antonio Hart's Here I Stand, Big Cat rap artist PBT, and is featured on The Last Poets Tribute Album.
